How to run your first scan

Step-by-step

   Sign up and verify your email

   Create an account at /sign-up using a real email address. Click the verification link Clerk sends you. Without email verification you can't access the scan feature.

   Take a clear photo

   Capture the affected area in good natural light. Get close enough that leaves fill most of the frame. Avoid blurry shots, the AI model is more accurate on sharp images.

   Upload from /scan

   Click 'Scan' in the sidebar. Drag-and-drop your photo or use your phone camera. The image uploads compressed to Vercel Blob; the original goes to the AI engine for full-quality analysis.

4. 4

   Fill in environmental inputs

   Tell GrowPilot about the plant's growing environment, soil type, nutrients, indoor or outdoor. Grower and Cultivator tiers see additional fields (temperature, humidity, container size, VPD, CO₂, light).

5. 5

   Submit and review

   Click 'Scan plant' and wait ~5 seconds. You'll see species identification with confidence, any detected diseases or disorders, and tier-specific treatment recommendations.

6. 6

   Save the plant to your collection

   Click 'Save to My Plants' to start tracking this plant over time. Future scans linked to this plant will appear in its timeline view, showing health changes side-by-side.
